Overview
This Privacy Policy explains how Sheldon Apps collects, uses, and shares information when you use the KejaYangu mobile application and related services.
Information we collect
We collect the following categories of information:
- Account information. Name, email address, phone number, optional profile photo, and basic profile details from Google or Apple sign-in where you use those providers.
- Listing content. Property or service titles, descriptions, pricing, photos, amenities, and selected map coordinates.
- Location data. With permission, device GPS is used to suggest nearby listings and help pin listings you create.
- Messages and reviews. Messages and reviews are stored so we can deliver them and moderate misuse.
- Payments. For contact unlocks, subscriptions, and promoted listings, we store transaction IDs, amounts, and outcomes. We do not store your M-Pesa PIN.
- Device and usage data. Basic device information, crash logs, and usage events help us improve reliability.
- Push notification tokens. With permission, push tokens let us send notifications about messages, bookings, and account activity.
How we use your information
- To provide and improve KejaYangu.
- To match users with relevant listings and recommendations.
- To process payments and deliver entitlements.
- To send transactional and operational notifications.
- To prevent fraud, abuse, and Terms of Use violations.
Sharing your information
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with:
- Other users where needed to provide public profiles, listings, messages, and marketplace features.
- Service providers such as Firebase, MongoDB Atlas, Google Mobile Ads, Mapbox, and payment partners.
- Authorities when required by valid legal process or to protect user safety.
Advertising
KejaYangu may display advertisements through Google Mobile Ads. AdMob may use a device identifier to deliver personalized ads. You can reset or opt out through your device privacy settings.
Data retention
We retain account data while your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymise personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required for legal, tax, or fraud-prevention purposes.
Your choices
- Access and correct profile/listing data inside the app.
- Request account deletion from the app or this website.
- Disable push notifications from app or device settings.
- Revoke location permission in your device settings.
Children
KejaYangu is not directed to children under 18. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us so we can delete it.
Security
We use safeguards including HTTPS in transit, encrypted database storage, and Firebase authentication. No system is perfectly secure; use a strong password and tell us immediately if you suspect account compromise.
International transfers
Our service providers may process data outside Kenya. Where this happens we rely on providers' standard safeguards to protect your information.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the effective date and, for material changes, notify you in-app or by email.
